The Fat Loss & Hormone Fix You’re Probably Missing: Drainage 101

If you’ve cleaned up your diet, swapped out your skincare, and taken every supplement under the sun—but still feel puffy, bloated, foggy, or inflamed—this post is for you.
Because here’s the thing: for many women over 40, the problem isn’t just hormones.
It’s not your metabolism either.
And no, you’re not doing anything wrong.
The real problem?
Your body might be trying to detox… but your drains are clogged.
💧 Wait—What Are Drainage Pathways?
Drainage pathways are your body’s built-in routes for getting rid of waste—used-up hormones, toxins, and general metabolic junk.
Think of them like the plumbing system in your home. When everything’s flowing, waste gets out smoothly. But when things back up? You start noticing symptoms.
The main drainage pathways include:
Your colon (yes, regular pooping is a must)
Liver and bile ducts
Lymphatic system
Kidneys
Skin
When these systems are sluggish, your body has a harder time eliminating toxins—and that can lead to symptoms we usually blame on hormones, like:
Bloating
Fatigue
Skin breakouts
Brain fog
Weight that won’t budge
Estrogen dominance
Histamine sensitivity (hello, itchy skin and food reactions)
The most frustrating part?
You might be doing everything right… but if you haven’t addressed drainage first, your body stays stuck in survival mode.
🧹 Detox vs. Drainage (And Why It Matters)
One of the biggest mistakes I see is women jumping straight into detox protocols—without making sure their drainage pathways are even open.
Here’s the difference:
Detox is your body breaking down toxins and waste.
Drainage is how your body actually gets them out.
If the “exits” are blocked?
All that waste gets reabsorbed—leading to more inflammation, more symptoms, and sometimes, feeling worse than before.
🚨 How Do You Know If Drainage Is Blocked?
Let’s just say… your body will tell you.
If you:
Don’t poop daily
Wake up puffy
Feel tired even after sleeping
Can’t seem to lose weight despite clean eating
Break out in rashes or acne after “detoxing”
React to random foods or supplements
…these might be signs your drainage needs support.
✔️ Where to Start
This is one of the first areas I focus on inside my 1:1 work with clients—because if your body can’t eliminate waste, it’s going to hold onto fat and recirculate hormone byproducts.
(Yes, your body actually stores toxins in fat as a protective mechanism. Mind-blowing, right?)
In my latest video, I’m sharing:
What I personally do each morning to support drainage
Why pooping daily matters more than any detox powder
The daily rituals I use (bitters, dry brushing, movement, etc.)
And the connection between drainage, energy, and even mitochondrial function
