Your Immune System: Priming vs. Activating

Did you know there is a difference between priming your immune system and activating your immune system?

Let’s chat about what each of these really mean!

When do you want to do each?

Priming your immune system is getting it in tip top shape so that you're better at fighting off an infection if you come in contact with one. This means that you want your immune system ready to take action and pay attention when you become exposed to a pathogen, such as a virus or bacteria.

Activating the immune system is revving up your immune system AFTER you have already contracted an illness (or feel like you're coming down with something)!

Why don't you always want to keep your immune system activated? Because this can cause your immune system to go into overdrive and start attacking your own body. This, in turn, can lead to an autoimmune disease. So we save the activating for when we really need the extra help from our immune system!

It's important to know how to prime your immune system to get ready for battle in case you need it! And I think right now is a great time to be talking about this topic! Stay tuned for how to effectively prime your immune system! And a few ways that you can activate it in case you need extra support!
